The Dornier Cascade CAS49VR is a sterile, single-use ureteral stent designed to relieve ureteral obstruction caused by stones, strictures, malignancy, trauma, or in conjunction with procedures like ESWL. The stent features a 4.9 French (Fr) diameter and is available in various lengths (typically 14–32 cm). It is constructed from a thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer compounded with barium sulfate for radiopacity, enabling clear visualization under fluoroscopy or X-ray. The stent is hydrophilic coated, which is activated by fluid to create a smooth surface for easy, atraumatic insertion and passage through delicate ureteral tissue. The double pigtail design anchors the stent securely in the renal pelvis and bladder, minimizing migration.
