The unit is in full working condition and is ready for immediate release.
Overview of Nitrates and Measurement Importance
Nitrates are naturally occurring compounds produced from the decomposition of organic matter or from fertilizers. However, they can be converted to nitrites, which pose health risks.
Guidelines for Nitrate Levels:
Global Maximum: 45 mg/L for nitrates in water.
Europe: 50 mg/L for potable water.
USA (EPA): 10 mg/L for nitrate nitrogen (NO₃-N), which equates to 45 mg/L of nitrates.
HANNA® HI 93728 and HI 93828 Meters
These handheld meters are designed for field measurements of nitrate levels with ease and accuracy.
Key Features:
HI 93728 Meter:
Measures nitrogen nitrate from 0 to 30 mg/L (NO₃-N).
To convert to nitrate concentration, multiply the reading by 4.43, allowing a maximum reading of up to 133 mg/L of nitrate (NO₃).
Measurement Range:
0.0 to 30.0 mg/L (NO₃-N)
Resolution:
0.1 mg/L
Accuracy:
±0.5 mg/L ±10% of reading
Light Source:
LED at 555 nm
Light Detection:
Silicon Photocell
Battery Type/Life:
1 x 9V with approximately 40 hours of continuous use.
Operating Environment:
0 to 50°C (32 to 122°F); RH max 95% non-condensing
Dimensions:
180 x 83 x 46 mm (7.1 x 3.3 x 1.8 inches)
Weight:
290 g (10 oz.)
Method:
Adaptation of the cadmium reaction method, producing an amber tint in the sample upon reaction with nitrate-nitrogen.
