Since the year 2000, the thermal evaporator has been used exclusively to evaporate aluminum pellets. The aluminum coating was applied to commercially-available optical fibers. That is, only aluminum and optical fibers have been used inside the thermal evaporator chamber. Other than aluminum and optical fiber, no other elements or contaminants have been used. Regarding the vacuum pump itself: It was working perfectly (pre-pandemic times). We have not touched it since.
